The concept of city sometimes refers to something imaginary whereas other times refer to a political, realistic or even symbolic notion. In the case of the artist Alexia Spanoudaki, city is its’ houses. She constructs her own cities, wherein man although physically absent, his presence is implied by his home. The houses form communities of substantial existence and coexistence. Imprinting a dreamlike city, the artist attempts to approach the collective through what is familiar at an individual level.
